The Featured Content Gallery Plugin

Ever since I released the Massive News WordPress theme, people have been asking me if I could help them integrate a similar “Content Gallery” feature within their own theme. After numerous requests, I finally decided to make the “Content Gallery” WordPress Plugin for anyone to use with any WordPress theme.
SmoothGallery is a great little script developed by JonDesigns.net which just happens to be a perfect addition to any WordPress theme to display a gallery of featured articles or posts. All I did was automate the process of adding and managing the script through a handy plugin. As you can see, I have included a full demonstration of what this plugin can do for your WordPress site above (all images shown in this demo are courtesy of TopLeftPixel.com).
Continue reading for installation and usage instructions, or scroll to the bottom of this post to download the plugin now.
Content Gallery Installation & Usage
The Content Gallery plugin is actually very easy to install and use as you will see by reading the steps below.
1. Download “content-gallery.zip” to your local machine.
2. Extract and upload the “content-gallery” folder to your “/wp-content/plugins/” directory. (DO NOT CHANGE ANY FILE OR FOLDER NAMES)
3. Activate the plugin through the “Plugins” menu in WordPress.
4. Add the following code anywhere within your theme files where you want the content gallery to be displayed.
<?php include (ABSPATH . '/wp-content/plugins/content-gallery/gallery.php'); ?>
Now that the plugin has been installed, using it is even easier. Within the “Options” menu in your WordPress administration control panel, click the “Featured Content Gallery” tab. Use the fields provided to edit the gallery content to be displayed on your site. That’s it! Your done.
Gallery Width & Height Customization (Optional)
To edit the width and height of the content gallery, edit “jd.gallery.css” found within the “css” folder of the “content-gallery” plugin folder. Edit the width and height of the first css entry found as shown below.
#myGallery, #myGallerySet, #flickrGallery
{
width: 460px; /* this is the width of your gallery */
height: 345px; /* this is the height of your gallery */
z-index:5;
border: 1px solid #000;
}

Awesome!
I’ve been waiting for something like this to integrate with my website. Using the JD script manually I had some success but it was a pain to setup on other websites… we’ll see how this one goes (i’m sure it will be great).
February 29th, 2008 at 1:41 am
Hi,
I’ve tried this in a few themes and it’s not forwarding to the next Feature…. just sticks on the first one and doesn’t rotate?
I have no other plugins activated and I haven’t modded any of the content-gallery files.
When I run the Massive News Theme w/ the integrated carousel, it works fine. But, the plugin w/ other themes… no luck so far.
Ideas?
example: http://cstina.com/blog
Thanks!
February 29th, 2008 at 5:18 am
cstina… This was a very simple fix. Download the latest version and it should work for you now.
February 29th, 2008 at 7:57 am
Is there a way to limit the rotation from 5 features to say 3?
February 29th, 2008 at 9:40 am
Chris… I will add that feature to the next version.
February 29th, 2008 at 6:20 pm
Glad to find your blog. This plug in is so awesome. Thank you!
March 1st, 2008 at 5:52 am
Cool, I’ll look forward to that update.
March 1st, 2008 at 8:56 am
Jason. Your site is outstanding. Your themes are the best available. And this plugin makes me dance of joy!!!
Thank you very much! Greetings from Northern Europe!
March 1st, 2008 at 9:27 am
Thanks for the compliments Rob… I really feel like I am just getting started in the WordPress community, but comments like this make me want to work even harder.
March 1st, 2008 at 8:04 pm
Wicked plugin! But why is it always me who has troubles
Basically i have a premium news theme bought from those lovley people in your ad at the top. And the content boxes that have the featured video, tag could, comments etc on this theme (prob does it on all of them!) http://newspress.premiumnewstheme.com when your plug in is activated they all the content in those boxes shows up at the same time. So say i got 5 videos in my video box, instead of just the one showing up all five would! If you know if their is a quick fix would appreciate any help as your work is just amazing!! If not i will use the original creators one for now as i know that works. Regards, Jay
March 5th, 2008 at 4:20 pm
@CHRIS
Just open up the gallery.php file and comment out any of the rotations.
@JASON
My text doesn’t seem to be styled as nicely as yours by default. Seems as though some of the margins are off and the titles are not showing up, I know they are there bc I can highlight them but they must be transparent or something. Can I edit all of this within the CSS or do I need to get into the code? Any reason why mine doesn’t look like yours does above right off the install? Could it have anything to do with inherited styles? If I can edit it in the CSS, which tags are what?
Sorry for so many questions, greeeeat plugin man. Thanks for sharing it with the rest of us. Can’t wait to check out the rest of your site, I just stumbled upon you 30 minutes ago and this post was as far as I got thus far.
March 5th, 2008 at 4:52 pm
Kurt… You should be able to edit and modify the included CSS to get it looking the way you want, and yes, it probably has something to do with inherited styles.
March 5th, 2008 at 6:57 pm
yeha…it’s totally the true solution for my intranets…
March 5th, 2008 at 9:11 pm
installed everything and didnt change anything and thisis what I get …
no matter what page i put it on… nothing pretty just all sample post one after another
any idea of whats wrong?

March 5th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
actually it seems to not work when I have WP Auctions plugin turned on? Know how to make it work?
March 5th, 2008 at 9:44 pm
Sevan… The problem with this plugin is that the scripts used within don’t seem to play very nice with other plugins. I am working on several updates which should resolve this issue.
March 6th, 2008 at 10:32 pm
Hello…Congratulations for your plugin I had prove it on a normal wordpress intallation and work ok. I have some problems with my new blogs developed on WordpressMU. I was needing more than one blog, and wordpresMU was a great solution for me. I want have one blog only for Photoblog and other for post.
leonardoparada.cl/blog1
leonardoparada.cl/photoblog
Is your plugin compatible whit wordpressMU. How Can I install on my wordpresMU blog?
Thanks for help me.
March 7th, 2008 at 9:09 pm
How do you do for post php code in your posts?
March 9th, 2008 at 3:51 am
Jason, i am trying your Massive theme on my new site, credited you here,trying to figure out how i could get a drop down menu to work for the pages so it goes over the carousel. Im gonna jump on the bandwagon and say i Love the featured article corousel , outstanding, my favourite. which leads me to this plugin. If i could ask for only 1 feature in the next update, my dream Featured Content Gallery Plugin would have the ability to show 5 different features for each selected category. So for example the home page would show the home page Features like it is right now, Category 1 would show different Features whic i can select for posts within Category 1. Same thing for Category 2 and so on…. Maybe it would work if i could ave the ability to attach a feature to a post and have an option for enable /disable, and then the carousel would show the latest 5 “enabled”posts within that category .
Would that be even possible to do it like that?
Also if (i guess this would make it 2 requests) the number of features for each category could be easily increased by selecting a number that would make things it a lot easier, i guess like a widget mini manager for the gallery plugin. I don’t know how difficult this would be, but this could be released as a premium plugin version. i have many more requests but i’ll stop now. Looking forward to more of you great work.
z.
March 9th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
You Rock!
March 10th, 2008 at 7:01 am
Ziemek… Great suggestions. I will keep all these features in mind for the next release.
March 15th, 2008 at 4:34 pm
Hi,
Watta great plugin, I had installed it at my blog http://www.ariefbaskoro.com and it works perfect and easy to manage. Btw, can I modify the featured content text in the top of the gallery? if it’s OK where can I modify it
Again, thanks for the great plugin
March 15th, 2008 at 4:46 pm
Never mind I’ve found it, I change it from the jd.galerry.js file. Anyway gret plugin, and you might wanna check it out at http://www.ariefbaskoro.com
cheers
March 16th, 2008 at 9:37 am
Great implementation. Looks good.
March 17th, 2008 at 12:20 pm
I keep getting a Cannot load content-gallery2Foptions.php. error. any ideas?
March 17th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
here is the site im trying to use it on.
http://jericosystems.info
March 18th, 2008 at 4:58 am
Eric… It looks like the plugin is not loading the options page properly. I will double check the latest package and let you know if I find anything wrong.
March 18th, 2008 at 7:48 am
Ok thanks for the help. i cant wait to use this. this is one of the best ideas i have ever seen put into a plugin.
March 18th, 2008 at 10:47 am
Jason-
I too am getting the options page is not loading properly problem. I thought it might be because I was trying it on MU. But I’m getting the error message - “Error! Options page not found!”
March 18th, 2008 at 11:33 am
mmm, i already tried the usual things to fix it such as go back to the basic theme and turn off all other plugins and im still getting it. What i find odd is that my error says it cant load “content-gallery2Foptions.php” and there isnt a page in the plugin with this title. Hopefully Jason can figure out whats going on.
March 18th, 2008 at 12:35 pm
Thank you so much for your time and effort putting this together!
I haven’ t set it up on my live site yet but it works perfectly on my test site.
March 18th, 2008 at 3:46 pm
Eric… I am really confused as to why you are receiving this error. The options page is actually named “options.php”, not “content-gallery2Foptions.php” as you have described above. I have tested the plugin on several wordpress installs now without any issues. What version of WP are you running?
March 18th, 2008 at 3:58 pm
im using 2.2.1, i beenw orking on this problem also and its making no sence to me at all where “content-gallery2Foptions.php” is coming from. if you want i can give you admin to my site if you think it will help you any. Thanks for looking into this for me.
March 19th, 2008 at 2:59 am
i updated to 2.3.3 and its not giving me the error no more but it isnt showing anything either.
March 19th, 2008 at 5:27 am
Eric, did you add the gallery code (as explained on this page) to your theme files where you want the gallery to be displayed?
March 19th, 2008 at 8:46 am
yea everything looks perfect. i dont know whats going on. when i go edit the page it wont let me put any text into the discription field on #2 it just delets whatever i have in the box when i click save. looks like i may just have to give up using this
March 19th, 2008 at 2:08 pm
I put it on our church website: http://e3scottsdale.com. Works great except for the description field on #2 blanks out each time I update the options. A minor annoyance for an awesome plug-in.
March 19th, 2008 at 3:49 pm
THANKS for this ROCK PLUGIN!
For the description #2 - go to the plugin dirctoey and edit the file: options.php
then change:
Featured Article #2
….
Description:
Look at the >> get_option(’”featured2-desc’);
There is ” that make the all mess! delete it that it will be like this:
get_option(’featured2-desc’);
March 19th, 2008 at 4:13 pm
yup that did take care of one of my problems lol, it still isnt showing anything though.
March 19th, 2008 at 4:42 pm
Karen… Great implementation. looks good.
Evis…. Thanks for the heads up, I will get that fixed.
March 19th, 2008 at 11:17 pm
Eric, What browser do you use? Sometimes you need to clear your cache to refresh the new settings. try that one.
I mean to IE, Firefox usually do the work.
March 20th, 2008 at 11:17 am
im using ie. i have forced refreash and still got nothing though. i have gottin it to work fine on other sites so it must be just a conflict on this one site.
March 20th, 2008 at 2:39 pm
Evis, thanks for the tip. It worked!
March 20th, 2008 at 9:23 pm
is there a way to get this to hold more than 5? i been workign with the code but with poor results.
March 21st, 2008 at 7:36 am
Eric… In the next version of the plugin I will add the option to add more articles, but as of right now, the process is pretty involved.
March 21st, 2008 at 8:59 am
thanks for the info, ill still play around with it. if i work on it long enough ill figure it out
and thanks for the great plugin it really looks greeat on http://www.vasthtml.com. i figured there would be problem with me expanding the width to almost 1000px but its doing great
March 22nd, 2008 at 3:45 am
Jason,
This plugin is amazing - thank you! I had actually downloaded Smooth Gallery a couple of days ago and couldn’t figure it out. I hoped at that time that there was such a plugin but though “nah - wishful thinking” - and here we are!
It took 5 minutes to install and get images intergrated, and looks great at 899px. Really superb job. Now I just have to get the rest of my site looking as smart….
March 22nd, 2008 at 10:32 pm
I’m also having a problem with the title as it is not showing correctly. The proportion of the title is way off and is overlapped by the thumbnails. I looked through the css file and changed almost all of the font sizes and it still didn’t change.
Inherited styles?
Does anyone know the fix for this?
March 23rd, 2008 at 3:52 am
Do you have a link so we can see it?
March 23rd, 2008 at 9:14 am
Ronnie… The title problem has to do with CSS and Inherited styles. You should be able to figure it out by comparing your CSS with the smooth gallery CSS included with the plugin.
March 23rd, 2008 at 12:15 pm
I love the plugin. I am running into a problem though: my dropdown menu falls behind the content gallery. Anyway to change this?
Any help would be extremely appreciated! Thanks a billion!

http://www.thedailydosage.com
I just havea test article up and that plugin..
Do I have to match the CSS’s? What exactly am I looking for?
March 23rd, 2008 at 5:51 pm
Ronnie, I’m having the same problem as you. I’m also using the same theme as you.
my test site: http://www.freedomtrainonline.com I cant figure out the missing title thing either.
March 24th, 2008 at 4:15 am
There appears to be a problem with your plugin. IE7 under Windows Vista, generates an error when loading any page that includes your plugin:
Line:521
Error: Type mismatch
This error appears on all the above examples using your plugin. In Safari, it’s perfect, but not IE.
I believe it has something to do with the additional php code that needs to be added.
Otherwise great plugin.
By the way, what wordpress plugin are you using for trailerflick.com to view your videos through lightbox? Could you make this available?
March 24th, 2008 at 4:52 am
JH… The error you get with IE actually comes from the JD Gallery script which is developed by http://smoothgallery.jondesign.net/.
The video feature on trailerflick.com is not a plugin. I hard coded a customized version of mediabox into the theme. However, it would make a good plugin in the future.
March 24th, 2008 at 6:02 am
Hi Jason,
yes you are right - is there not a fix for this? This error has an undesired effect on some of the above examples (including the error).
Also, the incorporation of mediabox into wordpress is fantastic - if you could see yourself develop this into a plugin - I would be more than happy to pay for this.
March 24th, 2008 at 10:19 am
Great tool. I am trying to implement it on my site (built on the revolution media pro WP theme) , but am failing miserably. The space where the gally should appear is appearing blank. I have followed your instructions and uploaded pictures/ managed the paths from my WP control panel, and nothing.
What gives?
Thanks in advance for the plug in and the help!
Ed
March 24th, 2008 at 11:06 am
opps I meant my test site is : http://freedomtrainonline.com/blog
This was offered as a possible solution on the Revolution Theme forums:
In the code in the templates it will look something like this….
Or in the stylesheet it will look like this….
#gallery
or….
.gallery
You’ll need to check that the same name isn’t used in the style for the plugin as it is for the CSS file.
March 24th, 2008 at 3:52 pm
I found it…it’s this part of the code
#homepage p {
padding: 0px 0px 15px 0px;
margin: 0px;
}
It’s in the css file. The 15px is causing it to move up.
March 24th, 2008 at 6:57 pm
Could someone please help? I cannot get any images to deploy (heck, even firefox´s firebug is telling me that there are no pictures associated with the post, despite that I have activated the plug in and customized the entries (which are only displaying as links), but no images, at all! Ever!
Michael D: Could you please take a look and point me in the right direction (seems that you have figured this one out already)
Thanks in advance,
Ed
March 24th, 2008 at 7:02 pm
Michael… If you select the text in the gallery description of your site you will see that the title is actually showing up, but the color set to #000000 for < H2 > in your CSS. You will need to either update your gallery plugin CSS or site CSS to fix the issue.
March 26th, 2008 at 1:05 pm
JASON:
THANK U!!
March 26th, 2008 at 10:42 pm
Hmmm… I can get my thumbnails to work properly, but the full images aren’t ever loading for some odd reason. I’ve posted a sample gallery at http://www.redtomrackham.com/category/artwork/
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
March 27th, 2008 at 2:08 am
Hi Jason
First of all, excellent plugin which looks great
I`ve tried to integrate it on my new site:
http://www.stringworks.ch/index.php
I have the same problem with the h2 formatting issue. Also the gaps between title and text are huge. Tried to solve that by creating a separate class in the gallery CSS file, but it didn`t work.
Do you have an idea to fix that?
Kind regards,
Michael
March 27th, 2008 at 1:17 pm
Hello Jason
Congratulation for this amazing plugin, it performs the better thing that I have seen for a lot of time.
Now, i’ve a problem: I don’t know in what part of the css I can modify the font size of the title and his gray background.
In addition the css does not respect the left margin either of the title and the description, and leaves plasters.
Can you help me? Thank you for everything and a greeting!
March 27th, 2008 at 1:32 pm
Opps, already I have discovered my mistake, thanks again.
March 27th, 2008 at 2:05 pm
Exists some way of giving an own style to the titl and the description?
Thanks
March 27th, 2008 at 4:30 pm
Hi jason
I have a similar problem that Jay had above, I have searched the net for answer and tried lots of stuff but been unable to fix.
When the content runs it just displays the text above the image and messes up the page. I dont get the arrows or the loader bar. I have tried it with my theme on a local copy and it works OK.
See http://www.southlandscc.com.au
Any help appreciated.
March 27th, 2008 at 4:46 pm
Hi,
Forget the above I finally found that it was the Lightbox JS V2.03.3 plugin causing the problem.
March 27th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
Hi Jason, great job on the plug-in. From what I can see it look fantastic. Was wondering if you could help me figure out if this plugin works with olde versions of wordpress 2.0.2? Much appreciated.
March 28th, 2008 at 7:11 am
I have WP2.2.3 and keep getting the “cannot load content-gallery2Foptions.php” error too. I know 2F is some type of code for /, but for the death of me I can’t find out why my WP replaces the slash with the 2F.
March 28th, 2008 at 8:45 pm
Great plugin. I am using it on my Revolution theme and it works find in Firefox. IE7 is having trouble. Not sure I am following the directive above about #gallery name not being the same etc. Any translation for a person bereft of code would be much appreciated. Haven’t checked it on Safari yet but my iPhone doesn’t like it either.
Thanks folks.
March 29th, 2008 at 4:10 pm
I have seen this quesion asked, but haven’t seen any answers or solutions yet. “my dropdown menu falls behind the content gallery. Anyway to change this?”
Thanks!
March 29th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
Eric… This plugin hasn’t been tested on anything below 2.3, and I think there are some issues with older versions of WordPress.
March 29th, 2008 at 4:12 pm
Mikko… My best suggestion at this point would be to upgrade your install to 2.3 or above.
March 29th, 2008 at 4:15 pm
Kevin… Do you have a link that I can take a look at?
March 31st, 2008 at 5:33 am
Roks!!!! many thanks 4 the plugin!
April 2nd, 2008 at 4:44 am
Okay so I was using this outstanding example of a wp-plugin and it was working perfectly until I upgraded to WP2.5
Plus I’m also have the title issues and if I do a slideshow smaller than 400px wide as exampled here (www.vulkon.com) the thumbnail navigator doesn’t move from side to side.
Whereas if I use a nice and wide slideshow as exampled here (www.covenantnaples.com) the navigator works fine.
Thoughts?
BTW I look forward to future updates and the media viewer which I too would be willing to pay for because your stuff rocks.
Might I suggest a support forum.
April 2nd, 2008 at 6:58 am
First can i echo what everyone else here is saying about this plug-in - it ROCKS!!!. now like a couple of other users I am having the problem of my dropdowns going behind the slideshow - you can see what it looks like here http://cerebralblackhole.com please help as this is one of only two things now that needs to be fixed for my theme upgrade to be complete.
April 2nd, 2008 at 7:02 am
I’m having the same issue with my drop down menus falling behind the content gallery. You can see the dropdowns (I believe they are dhtml) at http://www.thailandmusings.com, however I don’t have the gallery there right now for the obvious reason that I don’t want my menus hidden. I’ve read about people having similar problems with the dropdowns on this theme going behind AdSense as well so I’m guessing it has something to do with the javascript.
April 2nd, 2008 at 9:42 am
For those having difficulty w/ dropdown menus showing….
I fixed this, not even meaning to about 2 weeks ago. The way I did was by creating a ‘visible layer’ (dreamweaver) and setting the Behavior to show “on top.” This seemed to override any images or content under the menu, incl the gallery. Problem is, I didn’t save that work b/c I was playing around with the theme and ended up coding over my work…not realizing then that ppl were having an issue with the dropdowns. I’ll try to redo it and post an example.
Meanwhile, if you do a little research on adding layer behavior to your CSS on Header, you should be able to fix your particular theme. My layer parameters would be different than yours, assuming you don’t use my theme.
April 3rd, 2008 at 1:17 pm
sorry for the question, but how i can add more of 5 images?
I need put more!!!!
April 3rd, 2008 at 1:19 pm
JUAN
You CAN add them but it involves a lot of CSS and PHP coding to make it happen. I’ve already seen where it needs to happen and if you want I can lay it out for you as best as I understand it. First I have to get mine working since it wonked out on me ever since I upgraded to WP2.5 but when I do I’ll drop you a line.
Till then let me know something my email is johnny [at] vulkon [dot] com
April 3rd, 2008 at 2:02 pm
so I see that im not the only person having a problem to drop down menus going behind the Featured Content plugin, but is there a fix to this probblem. I read cstina post with interest - the only problem is that i dont understand his fix.
April 3rd, 2008 at 3:28 pm
LOVE LOVE LOVE! This plug-in. But, I’m having the same issue with users in IE not being able to see the images or gallery effects.
Also - has anybody used this plug-in in conjunction with lightbox2? I’m using the revolution pro media theme and when I try to use lightbox, it cancels out the javascript from ‘featured content gallery’
April 4th, 2008 at 11:05 am
well, i have insert more images in the plug! its very easy!
1. Open options.php copy and paste antoher part of code from Feature Article #(numbers). - to - Description
2. Open gallery.php copy and paste all and change the numbers for yours!
sorry for my english….
April 4th, 2008 at 11:06 am
ups the code dont show…
April 5th, 2008 at 10:17 am
ok for those who read this low i have included for those who don’t know how to add or take away the slides…1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc..
in options.php either add:
Featured Article #6
Title:
<input name=”featured6-title” id=”featured6-title” value=”">
Featured Image Location: e.g. “http://www.somesite.com/image.jpg”
<input name=”featured6-image” id=”featured6-image” size=”75″ value=”">
Links To: e.g. “http://www.somesite.com/some-article/”
<input name=”featured6-link” id=”featured6-link” size=”75″ value=”">
Description:
making sure to change all instances of the number to the new number…This will also work if you delete these to give you less slides in the options menu .
Also in gallery.php add this
<a href=”" title=”Read More” class=”open”>
<img src=”" class=”full” />
<img src=”" class=”thumbnail” />
also don’t forget here to change the numbers as well ( also remember that you have to delete the code like above if you want to get rid of any of the slides
and that is all it takes
enjoy
April 5th, 2008 at 2:23 pm
Has anyone tried this with Internet Explorer 8. I have and there is a few problems, just wanted to see if anyone else is having issues also.
April 6th, 2008 at 5:55 am
ok I finally fixed this problem with dropdowns going behins the Featured Content Gallery. What you need to do is:
In style.css add “of z-index 8;” without quote marks to the end of #navbar.
Then add “z-index 7;” to #subnavbar, again withough quotations.
Finally you will need to add “position: relative;” to both #navbar and #subnavba r
April 6th, 2008 at 11:19 am
Jason - you do have the best themes going - thanks so much!
I am setting up Massive News and when somebody clicks on an image, would like it to go to a video in a popup window. Any idea how to point to another plugin that will allow this?
Thanks!

This plugin is very pretty. So, I installed it in my blog to promote my Folio.

(see above)
Unfortunately, there is a bug : the pictures that I put in Content Gallery cant loading. It would because of an incompatibility with the 2.5 version of my WordPress??? TY for your Help.

Curious if you can stop the title and description for automatically sliding up and have it just slide up on rollover?
Anyone?

Beautiful plug in.
I can’t get it to work on my site. I even tried turning off all the other plug ins and it still just shows all the images one after the other with the text between them. I think it’s the same problem a few other people were having.
I’m using WP 2.5, so maybe that’s the problem. Don’t know. I’d love to use it. Is it something that might work in the next version or is it just that my site doesn’t like it?

Thanks!

Any outside chance of tweaking this so it works on Wordpress 2.5? I have a nice big black box continually loading on my web page that i will have to do something about. Tragically I love your product and would rather use it than some nonsensical adsense filler or random blog roll.
Here’s hoping my words have severely motivated you and wiped away that punishing lack of urgency you have been feeling lately…what with all the video work, themes and other cool stuff you do.
great work. Love the plugin.

April 13th, 2008 at 1:26 pm
It should be under the settings tab.
April 13th, 2008 at 1:28 pm
It should already work on 2.5
April 14th, 2008 at 6:38 pm
Any way to get the bottom title bar that pops up to ONLY pop up on rollover? THANKS!
April 14th, 2008 at 8:56 pm
Thanks for reply Eric. The only change I made to web site was upgrade to 2.5 and the images stopped working. The black box is still there and it says loading but no pix. Process of elimination would tell me the only change i made is 2.5 so that must be the culprit. Just wondered if anyone else had same issue.

Now is there a way to have the link to article

Anyone get this running with WP 2.5? I can see the pictures and text, but the smooth gallery is not working.

Hi Negativecamber.
I have exactly the same problem.

Have you tried to disable all other plugins and try. i know all this may have worked befor the update to 2.5 but 2.5 may be making a plugin react with the Content Gallery
April 17th, 2008 at 7:53 am
I figured this wouldn’t work on blogger? Do you know of anything like this that will work with blogger/blogspot?
Thanks

I am so excited about your plugin, however, I am having the same issues as some of the commenters above with the “Error! Options page not found.” when trying to submit the options I’ve configured.
I am running WPMU 1.3.3. I have this plugin installed only on the main blog. I do have the include code inserted in my theme file. If I go to the theme main page, I can see the window that should contain the images, but because I can’t submit my options with the image urls, it just hangs with no image.
I have tried to investigate by opening various files within my installation and also with your plugin to see if something is going wrong with a url path, but nothing has jumped out at me yet.
If someone has a solution, or at least some guidance into things I might check, I would be forever greatful:)
Thanks everybody…and especially you Jason, for doing such amazing work!

Hi…
There is one error in IE 6 i keep getting and i assume it’s to do with the jd.Gallery.js file? Yes? No?
Also i have noticed in the jd.Gallery.css all the div ID’s with the opacity and opacity filter renders the CSS invalid, they dont need to be there because it’s all done in the jd.Gallery.js file.
Take them out and your CSS will be valid.
April 18th, 2008 at 10:05 am
Oh also in the gallery.php file you need to insert alt=”" in your image tags or that will render your XHTML invalid to!

I am working on a new site for my news website based on wordpress. I wan’t tot use this plugin together with a Lightbox plugin. But if I activate the lightbox 2 plugin in wordpress 2.5 the gallery will not work.
Is there a solution for this?

Is there a definitive fix for this options.php not found error?
April 19th, 2008 at 6:35 am
Hey Guys!
I just installed this great plugin on my site.
But there is some problem.
Sometimes it works, and sometimes it isn’t, because all the pictures are shown on the page.
Just take a look on my page:
http://ale-plotki.pl
How to solve this problem?
It’s really important
April 19th, 2008 at 7:07 am
ok, i know what is happening!
Photos before the’re going to load, are seen on the whole page. After 5-10 seconds they disapper and than they are finally seen only in plugin box.
Where is the problem?

Hi guys, it’s really a great plugin. Jason, thanks for sharing.
I installed it on of my category pages (because I do like my frontpage). It works but the problem is my sidebar pushed down by the gallery. Is there a suggestion on how to fix it? Please, have a look on my page. Thanks in advance.
April 20th, 2008 at 11:51 am
@Dave and Guzrie
use the code below to solver error, the added bit is the visavility set to hidden.
: )
#myGallery, #myGallerySet, #flickrGallery
{
visibility:hidden;
width: 460px;
height: 250px;
z-index:5;
border: 1px solid #000;
}
April 20th, 2008 at 5:11 pm
Oh please, has anyone solved the options.php error issue. I’ve been trying to fix it, but have made no progress yet.
April 20th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
@faze one: thanks for the reply. I did what you suggested but my sidebar is still stubborn placing it self below where it should be :(. Do you have another suggestion? Please …
I’m a newbie in programming. Thanks
April 20th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
@faze one: please ignore my last post. You gave the correct solution. My sidebar already became a good boy as I put the php function calling it just before the function that calls the gallery. Thank you
April 21st, 2008 at 6:36 am
it didn’t help
i just add this line:
visibility:hidden;
but the problem stays; simply there is no change
please someone help me
check my site: ale-plotki.pl
April 21st, 2008 at 10:13 am
ok problem solved
but after i used the solution you gave, there i no way my readers can click on plugin box and be redirected to specific page
how to fix it?

Just an update. I have tried many things but to no avail. This does not work on WP 2.5. I know many have said it does but I have changed nothing on the site other than upgraded to 2.5 and it is a black box that says loading. No pictures appear.
No biggie, I was just hoping the author of the code might have a quick solution for it.

How to change the color of the title
when i say title, i mean ” Sample item title” . In my blog it appears to be in black color but i want it on white or yellow …
thank you for helping me …
April 28th, 2008 at 1:22 am
Hi, L.M.
I don’t know much about programming stuffs, but if I’m not mistaken, you can change your title color in jd.gallery.css file located in css folder of the plugin. Find a block under .jdGallery .slideInfoZone h2. Hopefully, I’m correct.
April 29th, 2008 at 12:46 am
Hi, guzfrie
thank you for helping,
but it doesnt work, the script uses the h3 font wich is in red , when i tried to change the ” h” font , the script stop working …
sorry
April 29th, 2008 at 1:04 am
@faze one
Have you found solution for my problem?
dave
April 29th, 2008 at 4:16 am
@L.M
It does work on my blog. What you need to do just to change the color code.
Under .jdGallery .slideInfoZone h2, find something like:
color: #fff
change “#fff” with the code of color you want. Hope it helps.
April 29th, 2008 at 4:20 am
Hey, I finally found your post about this again! I read it ages ago, but couldn’t find it again, so I wrote my own script.
I wrote a tutorial on how to make it, check it out.

After installing this plugin, I also installed Viva Post Carousel Plugin from Mediatricks.biz. Unfortunately, my Content Gallery becomes messy. It’s likely caused by javascript conflict. Could any one give suggestion how to fix it? Thank you

Hey man! This is great! I just want to know this, how do you customize the buttons in the slideshow and how do you add images to the slideshow?

Any solution when it comes to use both “Featured Content Gallery” and “Lightbox”?
May 2nd, 2008 at 3:25 pm
When I installed it on my site it worked perfectly. Then I upgraded to 2/.5 and instead of having the featured content being a tab to a dropdown in the gallery, they are scrolled across the middle of the gallery on top of the hovered arrows and exclamation point.
So I’m guessing it’s incompatible with 2.5…
May 2nd, 2008 at 4:41 pm
Hey I love the plugin idea but it wont work on my blog? i left it up so u can see…any idea?
May 4th, 2008 at 9:12 am
never mind bro i had to take it down cause it was all screwed up. what it does though is it just “lists” the pictures and dont link
May 5th, 2008 at 6:59 am
I’m also unable to use the content gallery with lightbox/slimbox.
The java seems to break for the content gallery when I activate lightbox or slimbox.
Is anyone using both at the same time?
Is there a trick to using both?
thanks,
_dave_
May 5th, 2008 at 7:23 am
@ _dave_ : so yours doesnt work when lightbox or slimbox is activated huh? I wonder if that is why mine isnt working. Im using Gallery plugin which uses the lightbox feature so that might be whats messing mine up as well. thanks.
I hope someone can help us out to have both work
May 5th, 2008 at 7:35 am
Thanks for this plugin. I love it! But I still can’t figure out how to change the colour of the Heading in the CSS of the plugin. It is not showing at the moment. Where exactly do I set this so that it doesn’t inherit? Thanks.
